Sources, country selection and method
Google News RSS is an English-language, US-edition search sample. Matching articles are title-deduplicated and limited to the seven days preceding retrieval. It is not an exhaustive measure of global media coverage. Missing requests are not counted as zero stories.
The latest available World Bank observation is shown with its source year. Each topic has a fixed eight-country cohort selected for exploration, not representative of the entire world. Percentiles use only countries with both observations and tied values receive equal ranks. Topic scores are never averaged together.
Daily news and annual indicators are plotted separately in original units. No causal claim, trend agreement or forecast follows from a difference in ranks. Blank values remain unknown; fabricated fallback data is never shown.
